The day

How does the day work?

You leave the Haleiwa boat ramp for an offshore shark swim and return to the same dock.

  1. 1
    At the ramp

You board with Islandview Hawaii beside the Haleiwa Harbor launch ramp. Snorkel gear is provided for the swim.

  2. 2
    Out to open water

The boat leaves the North Shore coast for the sharks' offshore habitat. You swim in open ocean.

  3. 3
    Guided swim

A safety diver stays beside you while you snorkel. The crew provides photos and video, so personal underwater cameras aren't allowed.

  4. 4
    Back to Haleiwa

The boat returns to the harbor after your swim. You finish at the same launch ramp where you met the crew.

The 105-minute booking covers the boat ride and shark encounter. The swim accounts for 30 minutes of the outing, with the trip ending back at Haleiwa Harbor.

Pickup and meeting point

  • Ramp location: Your meeting point is on the left side of Haleiwa Small Boat Harbor. The crew meets you beside the launch ramp and loading dock.
  • Arrival and parking: Arrive 15 minutes before sailing to meet the boat. Free parking is available near the dock.
  • Waiver: Your waiver needs completing before you reach the harbor. The booking instructions contain the form and request contact details for any trip changes.
  • Your transfer: Hotel transport isn't part of this booking. You arrange the journey to the harbor and your ride back after the swim.

Before you book

  • Children can join from age 5 with an adult. This is an open water swim with a safety diver, so it isn't a cage experience.

Fit

Is this tour right for you?

Couples who want photos included can choose this swim with up to 8 guests. The crew handles underwater photos. You need to be comfortable swimming offshore. It's also an option for children aged 5 and up with an adult.

Questions

People also ask

  • Are photos included in Islandview's Oahu cage-free shark swim?

Yes, the price includes photos and video from your swim. The trip costs from $150 per person with snorkel gear supplied too. You can't bring a personal underwater camera, so the included images cover that part of the experience.

  • Can one traveler book Islandview's 105-minute shark swim?

Yes, you can reserve a single place. The boat still needs 2 passengers in total before it runs. Islandview contacts solo guests if that minimum isn't reached and offers an alternative or full refund for insufficient numbers.

  • Does Islandview's shark swim include a Waikiki transfer?

No, you need your own transport to the Haleiwa launch ramp. Arrive 15 minutes before the boat leaves. Free parking near the dock helps if you're driving, and the same harbor is your return point.

  • How long does Islandview's cage-free shark swim last?

The whole outing lasts 105 minutes, with roughly 30 minutes in the water. Your safety diver accompanies the open water session. The remaining time covers the harbor preparation and boat travel, so you aren't swimming throughout.

  • Can six friends book Islandview's Oahu shark swim together?

Yes, 6 travelers fit within one booking if the party includes an adult. The boat's overall guest limit is 8. Your booking is shared, so other travelers may occupy the remaining places on that departure.
