Options

Which option to book

The scuba option covers your gear and underwater videos. Sessions run most days at 8 and 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m.

Option Departures
Scuba Diving 8 a.m., 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m., most days
Means: The 8 a.m. session leaves you the rest of the day for plans on land.

The catch: The 90-minute activity requires you to walk into the water carrying your dive equipment.

The day

How does the day work?

The session moves from a briefing on shore to shallow-water practice and a guided dive in Magic Island Lagoon.

  1. 1
    Scuba briefing

Your dive professional explains the basic skills on shore before you enter the lagoon. The lesson starts with how the equipment works.

  2. 2
    Practice in shallow water

You begin in waist-deep water with your dive professional. There's time to practice breathing through the gear before starting the guided portion.

  3. 3
    Guided lagoon dive

The dive begins once you're comfortable and your dive professional is satisfied with your skills. The route explores the lagoon's fish and coral.

  4. 4
    Videos and shore return

Underwater video is part of the guided experience. You return to the shore at Magic Island where any friends watching can meet you.

The shore briefing takes 10 to 15 minutes within the 90-minute activity. Underwater time varies with comfort and air use. The session ends at Magic Island Lagoon.

Pickup and meeting point

  • Lagoon meeting point: The dive team sets up near lifeguard tower 1G at the end of Magic Island. Scuba tanks and other equipment mark the meeting spot.
  • Walk from parking: Parking and drop-off are at the park lot. You then follow the path to the lagoon, so reaching the lot isn't the end of your journey.
  • Arrival and transport: Arrive at the dive team 30 minutes before your session. Hotel transport isn't included, and the walk from the lot needs to happen before check-in.
  • Glasses and masks: Prescription glasses can't be worn under the scuba mask. Contact lenses are allowed, so your usual glasses need a different plan for the water.

Before you book

  • Plan 2 hours for the activity and early check-in. Friends watching from shore don't need a ticket.

Fit

Is this tour right for you?

This shore dive suits families with children aged 10 and up when only some want scuba. Your companions don't need shore tickets. You need to feel comfortable in the water. It works if you can walk with the gear and allow 2 hours including check-in.

Scuba Lounge caps each slot at four divers if you want fewer people, from $85 per person. For a 3-hour boat outing with introductory scuba, Dive Oahu costs from $270.36 per adult.

Means: Book the 8 a.m. shore session if you want your first dive finished ahead of other daytime plans.

Who it's not for

  • Children under 10
  • Anyone unable to walk with scuba gear
  • Anyone uncomfortable in the water
  • Pregnant travelers

Good to know

Know before you go

Age and fitness

The minimum diving age is 10. You need enough fitness to walk with the scuba equipment, even though previous swimming experience isn't required. Comfort in the water is a separate requirement.

Glasses and masks

Prescription glasses won't fit under the scuba mask. Contacts are allowed. Your normal glasses therefore need a plan before the session, while the dive equipment itself is supplied with your booking.

Before a flight

This beginner dive carries a recommended 12-hour wait before air travel afterward. Plan the dive around your flight booking. A scheduling mistake doesn't remove the tour's normal cancellation terms.

Cancellation window

Cancellation at least 24 hours before departure qualifies for a full refund. Later cancellation doesn't. Camera failure also doesn't trigger a tour refund, even though underwater videos are part of the experience.

Weather cancellation

Bad weather can lead to a new session time. If rescheduling isn't possible after a weather cancellation, a full refund follows. Your original reservation doesn't guarantee that water conditions will allow the dive.

Booking size

One booking takes up to eight travelers, and the group limit is sixteen. Parties of more than eight need two bookings. The ticket is mobile only.
