Route

How does the day work?

The route starts with coffee and Waimea before following the North Shore toward Kahuku and the windward coast.

  1. 20 min
    1. Green World Coffee Farm

Coffee starts the day at the farm. You can see the setting where the beans are roasted.

  2. pass by
    2. Haleiwa

Your guide points out places to revisit in Haleiwa. The vehicle passes through without a town walk.

  3. 60 min
    3. Waimea Valley

The garden walk gives you time for photography on the way toward the falls.

  4. 45 min
    4. Waimea Falls

The waterfall is a separate photo opportunity. You can swim only when conditions permit.

  5. pass by
    5. North Shore

The drive passes Pipeline and Sunset Beach. Your view depends on the surf that day.

  6. 60 min
    6. Kahuku

You choose and pay for lunch at Kahuku's food trucks. The stop leaves time to eat.

  7. pass by
    7. Windward Oahu

The coastal drive passes the Koolau Mountains and Kualoa Ranch. You stay in the vehicle along this stretch.

  8. 20 min
    8. Kualoa Regional Park

Mokolii sits offshore against the mountain backdrop. The park provides a place for your photographs.

  9. 20 min
    9. Tropical Farms

The farm stop offers coffee and macadamia samples. You can browse beneath the trees.

  10. 20 min
    10. Nuuanu Pali Lookout

Take in the windward coast from the mountain lookout while your guide helps frame the view.

  11. 20 min
    11. Makapuu Lookout

The cliffs and ocean meet at this viewpoint. Repairs limit access to the upper lookout until early November.

  12. 20 min
    12. Halona Blowhole

This coastal lookout faces the blowhole. Spray depends on waves reaching the lava tube.

  13. 15 min
    13. Leonard's Bakery

A malasada is provided during the food stop. The pastry is covered by your ticket.

  14. pass by
    14. Kahala

The return drive passes Kahala's large homes. You don't stop for an interior visit.

  15. ·
    15. Waikiki drop-off

Your guide brings you back to Waikiki after the island circuit. Drop-off closes the day.

The itinerary gives the garden walk 60 minutes and the waterfall 45 minutes. Lunch at Kahuku has 60 minutes. The 10-hour route ends at your Waikiki pickup or the zoo meeting point.

Pickup and meeting point

  • Hotel arrangements: Your hotel must be one of the selected Waikiki pickups. The exact collection point and time need arranging directly with Oahu Photo Tours.
  • Zoo meeting point: If you're staying elsewhere, the meeting point is the Honolulu Zoo parking lot entrance. It's across the street from Queen Kapiolani Hotel.
  • Direct contact: Phone or email reaches the tour team. Messages through the booking page aren't monitored for pickup arrangements.
  • What to carry: Bring your bathing suit for a possible waterfall swim. Your bag should be light enough to carry at every stop because belongings don't stay in the van.

Before you book

  • Guests outside Waikiki join at Honolulu Zoo. Your meeting point is the parking lot entrance across from Queen Kapiolani Hotel.

Fit

Is this tour right for you?

The 12-guest limit suits friends who want photo help during a full island outing. You need 10 hours and moderate fitness for the walking. It's a useful choice when your photographs matter more than having lunch prepaid.

For dawn light and temple grounds, the sunrise photo tour costs from $175 per adult. E Noa's Majestic includes lunch with Waimea and Byodo-In admissions, from $186.39 per adult.

Means: Book the 7 a.m. option when you can keep the full day free for photography and walking.

Who it's not for

  • Travelers who can't manage moderate walking
  • Guests with less than 10 hours available
  • Anyone needing a guaranteed waterfall swim

Good to know

Know before you go

Children's places

Child tickets cover ages 5 to 12, and the booking page sells no ticket for younger children. Ask Oahu Photo Tours before booking a child under 5.

Walking and bags

Wear closed-toed shoes for the walking stops. Your belongings need to stay with you outside the van, so a bag you can carry comfortably matters.

Pool conditions

The waterfall pool opens only with lifeguard permission. A supplied life jacket is required for each swimmer, and you need your own swimwear.

Valley closures

Waimea Valley is closed on Mondays for most of the year, though the tour runs daily. Thanksgiving and Christmas also close the valley, so those departures can't promise the usual visit.

Refund timing

A full refund is available for cancellation at least 24 hours before departure. A later cancellation doesn't recover your payment if your plans change.

Party and ticket

A booking can contain 1 to 12 travelers and needs an adult. Your ticket is mobile, with other bookings able to join the shared group.

Questions

People also ask

  • What does Oahu Photo Tours' waterfall day cost?

The price from $185 per adult covers the photographer guide and Waimea admission. You also receive a malasada during the route. Lunch at the Kahuku food trucks is a separate purchase, with 60 minutes set aside for that break.

  • How much time does the photo tour spend at Waimea?

The itinerary separates a 60-minute garden walk from a 45-minute waterfall stop. The pool may be closed even while the valley is open. Your visit therefore includes opportunities for photographs without depending on a swim.

  • How do you arrange pickup for Oahu Photo Tours' waterfall trip?

You must contact the tour team by phone or email for the 7 a.m. departure's exact pickup. Booking messages aren't monitored for this arrangement. Failure to settle collection can result in a missed tour without a refund.

  • How large is Oahu Photo Tours' waterfall group?

The maximum is 12 guests with a photographer guide. You spend 10 hours on the route, including the drives. The group size is a limit on passengers, not a promise of private instruction throughout the day.
