Route

How does the day work?

You ride from the Waikiki shop past coastal parks before locking the bikes for a guided Diamond Head climb.

  1. pass by
    1. Kapiolani Park

The ride passes Kapiolani Park at the base of Diamond Head. It's part of the approach to the crater.

  2. pass by
    2. Makalei Beach Park

The route passes a beachfront park used by surfers. There's no scheduled stop here.

  3. 60 min
    3. Diamond Head State Monument

The bikes stay locked while your guide leads you up the crater. The summit looks across Honolulu and the coast.

The Diamond Head stop takes 1 hour within the outing of 3.5 hours. Your ride finishes back at the Kuhio Village Tower shop.

Pickup and meeting point

  • Shop entrance: The activity shop is inside the Kuhio Village Tower lobby at 2463 Kuhio Avenue. You meet there for the ride.
  • Your belongings: Bring a backpack for anything extra. A bag hanging from the handlebar isn't recommended while riding.
  • Clothing: Closed shoes are required for the ride and hike. Long skirts or dresses can interfere with riding safely.
  • Helmet: Every rider must wear the supplied helmet. The rule applies regardless of your age or cycling experience.

Before you book

  • Check that every rider can balance a bike and climb on foot. The tour isn't recommended for riders 65 and older.

Fit

Is this tour right for you?

Riders ages 15 and up can choose this for assisted cycling and a guide on the Diamond Head climb. The group holds six at most. You still need balance on the bike and moderate fitness for the walk, which the motor can't assist.

For a bike ride that adds lunch, Bike Tour Hawaii costs from $169 per adult. For Diamond Head with no cycling, Kaimana's shuttle costs from $35 per adult.

Means: Book 8 a.m. to fit the ride and guided climb into your morning.

Who it's not for

  • Riders under 15
  • Riders 65 and older: discouraged
  • Travelers unable to balance a bicycle
  • Walkers needing motor assistance on the summit trail

Good to know

Know before you go

Age restrictions

Riders ages 15 to 18 must come with an adult. The ticket band extends to 75. However, the riding guidance discourages guests 65 and older, so ticket eligibility alone doesn't make the tour a suitable choice.

Riding equipment

A helmet is compulsory even for experienced riders. Wear closed shoes and avoid long skirts or dresses while cycling. Your extra belongings belong in a backpack, since a bag hanging from the handlebar is discouraged.

Arrival cutoff

More than 15 minutes late without prior approval means losing the tour and payment. The meeting is inside the lobby shop. Your own journey there needs enough time to find the entrance before the scheduled start.

Booking response

The operator must accept your request after you book. A reservation can contain one to six riders. Don't treat the request alone as a settled departure, and keep the mobile ticket available once your arrangements are accepted.

Weather and turnout

Weather or insufficient bookings can cancel this ride and hike. The group is limited to six. Your ability to book as a solo rider doesn't mean that a departure must operate for a single guest.

Refund rules

You get a full refund by canceling at least 24 hours before departure. Cancellation after that cutoff forfeits your payment. That deadline is separate from the late-arrival rule, which can also leave you without a ride or repayment.

Questions

People also ask

  • Does 808eVentures include Diamond Head admission?

Yes, the hiking ticket is included from $199 per person. The package also supplies your electric bike and helmet. You have a guide for the ride and the climb, with the bicycle left behind while you walk uphill.

  • Where do you meet 808eVentures for the Diamond Head hike?

Meet at the activity shop in the Kuhio Village Tower lobby at 2463 Kuhio Avenue. You return to that meeting point. Keep the shop address separate from the park address, since the guided outing starts with cycling from Waikiki.

  • Does the electric bike reach the Diamond Head summit?

No, the summit section is a walk during the 3.5-hour outing. The electric motor assists the road ride. You still need moderate fitness for climbing and enough balance to control the bicycle before and after the hike.

  • Does 808eVentures offer the Diamond Head tour after lunch?

Yes, a 1 p.m. departure runs daily. The other start is at 8 a.m. Both follow the ride and hike format, so you can choose around your Waikiki plans without switching to a different type of tour.

  • Is there a minimum height for 808eVentures' Diamond Head ride?

No fixed minimum height is given, but riders under 5 feet may have more difficulty. Balance is still necessary. You should discuss bike fit before booking if your height could make controlling the bicycle difficult during the guided road ride.
