Options

Which option to book

Morning and afternoon cruises each have a transport option. The base price leaves you to reach Ko Olina Marina yourself.

Option Departures
Afternoon Cruise -No Transport 12:15 p.m., daily
Morning Cruise - No Transport 8 a.m., daily
Morning Cruise w/ Transport 8 a.m., daily
Afternoon Cruise w/ Transport 12:15 p.m., daily
Means: The 8 a.m. option without transport fits a Ko Olina stay if you can reach the marina by 7:30 a.m.

The catch: The 3.5 hours exclude your hotel journey, and the base price doesn't cover that ride.

Route

How does the day work?

From Ko Olina, the catamaran follows the west coast for dolphin watching and reef snorkeling before a hot meal.

  1. 120 min
    1. West Oahu Coast

The captain heads north to look for dolphins. Your snorkeling follows a safety briefing, with warm showers and the Hawaiian meal after you leave the water.

  2. 60 min
    2. Electric Beach

Electric Beach lies opposite the power plant. Its warm outflow draws fish and sea turtles to this part of the coast.

  3. pass by
    3. Waianae Range

The Waianae Range forms the mountain backdrop to your cruise. You pass it from the water without a hiking stop.

  4. pass by
    4. Ko Olina Lagoons

The boat passes the Ko Olina resort lagoons. This isn't a stop for swimming in the lagoons.

  5. pass by
    5. Maili Beach Park

Maili Beach Park is another coastal view from aboard. The route doesn't include time ashore at the park.

The full cruise lasts 3.5 hours with an hour for snorkeling. You return to Ko Olina Marina afterward. Hotel travel sits outside that boat time.

Pickup and meeting point

  • Marina meeting: The waiting area is behind Ko Olina Marina Adventure Center on the ocean side. You'll find umbrellas to the left, where the manager handles check-in.
  • Driving there: Arrive by 7:30 a.m. for the morning cruise or 11:45 a.m. for the afternoon cruise. The marina address is 92-100 Waipahe Place in Kapolei.
  • Hotel transport: Your booking needs the transport option for a hotel ride. Pickup depends on the stop, with Ala Moana Hotel at 5:50 a.m. or 10:10 a.m.
  • Boarding access: The bus and boat both have steps. Collapsible wheelchairs and small umbrella strollers stay at the marina during your cruise.

Before you book

  • Check that boarding steps suit your mobility. Wheelchairs stay at the marina, so you'll need to walk aboard.

Fit

Is this tour right for you?

An hour of reef snorkeling suits you if water time matters. Transport isn't included in the base option. The 3.5-hour outing works for a Ko Olina stay with your own marina transport. You can't remain in a wheelchair aboard, so boarding steps must suit your mobility.

For a 9 a.m. start from Ko Olina, Hawaii Nautical costs from $139.95 per adult with a packed lunch. Dolphins and You costs from $183 per adult if you want selected hotel pickup in the base trip.

Means: Choose the 8 a.m. cruise to keep your afternoon free, adding transport if you need a hotel ride.

Who it's not for

  • Guests unable to walk up boarding steps
  • Travelers expecting pickup with the base option
  • Anyone seeking a dolphin swim rather than watching

Good to know

Know before you go

Boarding steps

You must be able to climb the short steps onto the boat and any booked bus. Collapsible wheelchairs and small umbrella strollers stay at the marina. They don't travel aboard the cruise.

After your swim

Bring your own towel for the snorkel stop. Gear and flotation equipment are supplied, and there's a warm freshwater shower aboard. Your 3.5-hour cruise includes time to eat after being in the water.

Food choices

Vegetarian or gluten-free meals come from the existing buffet choices. You assemble a suitable plate from those dishes. Dietary concerns need to reach Ocean Joy before your trip, rather than at lunch service.

Adding hotel transport

The hotel shuttle must be added when you choose your option. It isn't included in the starting price. An Ala Moana pickup can be at 5:50 a.m. for the morning cruise.

Group and ticket

You can reserve for 1 to 30 travelers in one booking, with an adult required. The boat's tour limit is 49 guests. Your mobile ticket covers your own party within that shared group.

Changes and cancellation

Cancel at least 24 hours ahead for a full refund. The standard policy gives no refund inside that window. Weather or insufficient passenger numbers can also prevent the cruise from running.
